Greg Angst is a Consulting Engineer in Telecommunications Services with CenterPoint Energy. He has a strong background with over 30 years experience in network engineering of voice, data, radio, microwave, and fiber telecommunication systems. He is a member of both the Utilities Telecom Counsel Board, Utilisite Counsel, and a past member of the United Power Line Counsel Board of Directors He is the CenterPoint Energy contact to the ARRL local members regarding the CNP BPL deployment. He was the FCC and FAA license contact for CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric Radio Station Licenses and towers.
I have been involved as a key player with the BPL pilots and AMS deployments since 2004. My involvement has included regulatory, licensing, technology standards development for BPL, HAN, and ZigBee standards for AMS and Intelligent Grid Technologies. I was involved with the planning, feasibility studies, future proof solutions, field trouble shooting, and operation of the existing BPL/AMS pilot areas.
Throughout his career he has been involved in the planning, implementation, and operations of LAN’s, WAN’s, and wireless systems. Much of his work has centered around wired and wireless telecommunication systems. Current work centers around network synchronization for CenterPoint Energy’s Private Communication System . Has published articles for the Utilities Telecom Council, United Power Line Council, and Utilimetrics conferences.
Mr. Angst graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston in Houston, Texas. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas (P.E.), a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) and a member of the Building Industry Consulting Service, and Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute.
